(False Teachers and False Prophets)

False prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy: deceitful appearance; false pretence.

Jesus said I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly. This is the prosperity message of Jesus Christ. As I expound on these words and words inspired by the Holy Spirit through the written word you will see clearly that any other prosperity message is another gospel. For it is written:

2Corinthians 11:3-4

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with Him.

Galatians 1:6-8

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Timothy 6:5-9

Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

1John 2:15-16

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

The very instant a person submits to the drawing of the Holy Spirit and fully recognizes the need in their life for a Savior and comes to Jesus Christ in faith repenting of their sin and confessing with their mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and believe in their heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead. At that very moment that person is supernaturally transformed from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of the Light of God and is saved from eternal damnation.  This person has just received all the prosperity that a new creature in Christ Jesus needs. For this now translated person is a stranger, pilgrim passing through this earth learning, studying, understanding the scriptures and desiring a better country that is heavenly. Now being fully persuaded to be a doer of the word of God by literally doing what Jesus said do. Let’s read want Jesus said.

Matthews 16:24-26

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthews 6:19-21

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthews 6:25,32-34

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.   Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.

Luke 12:15

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things, which he possesseth.

Then Jesus continued with a parable of the rich fool (earthly prosperity seekers).

Luke 12:16-21

And he spake a parable unto them, saying, the ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, what shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, this will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

The apostle Paul sums it up in the following verse concerning not having confidence in the flesh, and I might add material things that will burn-up and pass away, which cannot be taken to the other side of eternal life.

Philippians 3:8

Yea doubtless, and I count all things [but] loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.

The truth of the matter is that this prosperity teaching heard from the Gospel pimps of this day is a proven money -maker for them to heap to themselves huge sums of money.  In the guise of Jesus want you to be rich and prosperous they stir up the covet-ness desire in their listeners, which is idolatry.

Studies have shown that it is the poor and needy that gives most often to these gospel pimps. Why is this? Because these people often feel that only a financial "miracle" can save them. It is not uncommon for desperate Christians to give and give, well beyond their means, in the hope that God will rescue them. Some will even lose their homes. And the elderly and the sick often give sacrificially in the hope of some kind of improvement.

And the fact is that the gospel pimps know this but having coveted money they have erred from the faith. Piercing themselves through with many sorrows.

·        coveted after - Insatiably desiring

·        Have erred from the faith - Have totally erred - have made a most fatal and ruinous departure from the religion of Christ.

·        And pierced themselves through with many sorrows - An allusion to a snare, where a hole is dug in the earth, and filled full of sharp stakes, and, being slightly covered over with turf, is not perceived; and whatever steps on it falls in, and is pierced through and through with these sharp stakes. (ruin, death, punishment, and destruction)

I conclude with the following:

2Peter 2:1-3

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.  And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Here let's Read John Gill’s exposition on this passage of scripture:

And through covetousness;.... Which is generally a prevailing vice among false teachers, they having no other end in view than themselves; either to gain popular applause and vain glory, which they are always covetous of; or to amass riches to themselves, after which they have an insatiable desire:

Shall they with feigned words; made words, words of their own devising, and not which the Holy Ghost teacheth; whereby they cover themselves, and privily introduce their pernicious principles; and therefore new words and phrases are always to be suspected and guarded against, especially in articles of moment and importance: or with flattering words and fair speeches, great swelling words of vanity, having men's persons in admiration, because of worldly advantage; and in this way they gain their point:

Make merchandise of you; deal with the souls of men, as merchants do with their goods, carry them to market and sell them; so false teachers deal with the souls of their followers, draw them, and sell them to Satan, and they themselves pay for it; see Zech.11:5 but in the issue, and that in a short time, they will be no gainers by such practices:

Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not: that is, their condemnation, which God in righteousness has determined, "from the creation of the world", as the Ethiopic version reads, or from all eternity, see Jude1:4, to bring them into, for their vile principles and practices, is not retarded and delayed; it does not linger and stay behind, or slacken its pace; it will not tarry, it will come upon them at the appointed time:

And their damnation slumbereth not; an avenging God, who has appointed them to damnation for their sins, slumbers not; the justice of God is not asleep, nor careless and negligent, but is awake, and watches over them, to bring the evil upon them they have deserved, and is in reserve for them, and will hasten to perform it; the determined destruction does not lie dormant, but in a little time will be stirred up, and fall with dreadful weight on such sinners, as may be concluded from the following awful instances.

The gospel pimps deceive and make merchandise of many who believe the prosperity now, seed-faith, sow and reap, give to you hurt, 100-fold return message while they themselves hoard money and luxuries, and spend millions of dollars on buildings. And our dear Christian brothers and sisters in the mission fields, down the street, and throughout the world who have truly counted the cost of discipleship to follow Jesus and carry His true message to a dying hell-bound world go lacking in basic necessities. It should not be.

Now does God want His children bless? Yes. That is why He sent Jesus. We are truly blessed when we enter the kingdom of God and this is accomplished only through the Son. But my dear reader remember:

Act 14:22:  Confirming the souls of the disciples, [and] exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

And beware of the gospel pimps, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
